Blogger makes his own walkability map of San Francisco
We know that San Francisco's generally ahead of the curve on the whole green lifestyles thing -- they're driving on grease power, forcing people to recycle, the whole 9 yards. Now, people looking to move to San Francisco and ditch their gas-guzzling lifestyle can use Lee Byron's block-by-block breakdown to locate their ideal walkable neighborhood. Inspired by Walk Score's color-coded walkability map of Seattle, Lee decided to use his code-writing and data-mining powers (which I won't pretend to understand) to come up with this handy and highly-detailed walkability map of San Francisco. We're not sure how he did it, or how accurate it is -- but judging from the detail, it looks like it took a helluva lot of work. For a moment, I was inspired to make a walkability map of my city, but then I remembered that I live in Texas, and it would be almost completely light pink. Doh!
