Tackle your summer reading list in the sun
Never fear; you can tackle that bad boy while enjoying lovely and inspiring destinations, and be eco-friendly all at the same time!
Of course, if you're heading out in the sun, be sure to apply a green sunscreen, as many sunscreens are not only bad for you, but also for the planet. Should you end up burnt, we have several green solutions to soothe your skin.
- Make use of your porch, deck or balcony.
- Head to a local park with a blanket and some fruit from your local Farmer's Market.
- Hitch a ride with some friends to a local beach. Don't forget an umbrella and sun hat! If you intend to take swim breaks, check out our list of eco-friendly swimwear.
- Take a walk to your favorite fair trade cafe or a locally-owned restaurant and sit in the outdoors section with an iced coffee. They'll use the electricity whether you are there or not, and you're helping to support a socially responsible business.
- If you live near any hiking or bike trails, pack a snack and make a day out of it. When you stop to rest or find a good spot, pull out your book.
