Keanu's eco-thriller looks pretty intense
When Keanu Reeves appears as Klatuu, the helpful alien sent to Earth with a foreboding message of destruction, he'll bring an eco-friendly message to the big screen. Because, while original The Day the Earth Stood Still cautioned against warfare, the upcoming remake is concerned with a more modern dilemma: global warming.
While greenies like us are excited, I'll be honest: this plot line sounds like it could be seriously cheesy. I love Captain Planet as much as the next person, but when I see a sci-fi adventure movie, I don't want to hear about composting and CFLs, I want to see scary aliens, gun battles and explosions.
Fortunately, at least judging by the movie's trailer, it seems the film's eco-message hasn't put a dent in the action. Plus, it looks like the Reeve's character is supposed be wooden and unnatural, which lends itself to Keanu's, erm, unique acting style.
