Tip of the Day: Green grilling tips
It's the 4th, and literally millions of folks will be firing up the grill this weekend. In that spirit, here are some green grilling tips from the Sierra Club:
- Opt for propane or electric over charcoal. Go even better with a solar grill.
- If you do use charcoal, look for lump types harvested from sustainable forests, as opposed to briquettes.
- Grill organic, hormone-free meat and mix it up with some fruit.
- Minimize health risks from cancer-causing substances that can form, by choosing lean meats and trimming any visible fat before cooking.
- Clean up the grill afterwards with a natural grill cleaner.
