It's easier than ever to get green beer all year

Once upon a time your beer was made down the road at your local pub, from grains grown a few miles outside of town. The only fertilizer was cow poop, and you preserved beer by drinking it fast. Sometimes it was warm, but it was always fresh.
Then came the industrial revolution, highways, eighteen wheelers and kegs of the watery punishment known as PBR. In those days, the only way to get all natural beer was to make it at home. And if you've ever mixed up a jug of homebrew, you know it's one of the stinkiest things you can do in a kitchen.
Thanks to the popularity of microbreweries and craft beers, it's now easier than ever to find locally, organic and sustainably produced beers. Because most of these microbrewers are very concerned with ingredients and taste, they naturally lean toward organics.

Some small brewers, like Robert Wolaver of the eponymous Wolaver's Organic Ales, believe so strongly in organic practices that they only buy from organic farms and have their facilities certified organic.
While organic beers make up only a small percentage of the ginormous beer industry today, their numbers are growing. The trend is so strong that even beer behemouth Anheuser-Busch has an organic beer brand, Stone Mill. The beer cooler is filling up with organic choices.
Next time you reach for a six pack, take a minute to read the packaging. You might even be drinking organic beer without realizing it!
