Giveaway reminder: Win a Neuton Mower!

Today is the last day to win a Neuton 5.2 Battery-Powered Mower. Jump on over to this post and leave a comment telling us what you will do with your old mower if you win. The Neuton mower operates on a rechargeable battery freeing you from oil changes, spark plug replacements and last minute trips to the gas station. Best of all, it releases no air pollutants as it mows your backyard.
Whether you mow your own grass or hire a service that uses a gas powered mower, consider these facts:
- Gas powered mowers are responsible for 5% of the nation's air pollution.
- Running your mower for an hour is equivelent to running eight new cars at 55 miles per hour.
- 80 pounds of carbon dioxide are release annually from a single mower.
- 800 million gallons of gas are burnt off in mowers by Americans every year and another 17 million are spilled onto the ground.
If you have been wanting to shrink your carbon footprint, winning this mower would be a great start. The contest ends at 5 p.m. today.

I've always wanted a battery operated mower! For a long time I used a reel-type mower, but since I allow the grass to grow tall to provide some habitat for the local animals it became increasingly difficult as the summer progressed. I now use a gas mower, but have been contemplating finding a way to convert it to battery power.
If I win this giveaway, I'll finally have the flexibility to disassemble my gas-powered mower and attach an electric engine to it. Hopefully by winning, I'll be able to turn one electric mower into two! Also, I'll do my best to advocate environmentally responsible lawn maintenance to my neighbors and others via a series of web articles.

I hate my gas mower. It stinks. It is loud. It doesn't start. I'd love to take it apart and recycle it.
I can't wait to win an electric mower. My neighbors would start talking to me again and may be retire their push mowers.
