Six ways to give your old shoes new life.

I would say most people I know own at least one pair of athletic shoes whether it be for running, tennis, knocking around town or getting around campus. Inevitably, most of us reach the point where we think we need a new pair but our shoes aren't necessarily done working. The best thing you can do is give them a chance to give someone else a run at an active life. Here are six ways you can donate your beloved shoes to a great cause and keep them out of the landfill:
- Samaritan's Feet: Their goal is to equip 10 million impoverished people with 10 million pairs of shoes over the next 10 years!
- The Shoe Bank: Providing approximately 20,000 children here and abroad each year with shoes.
- Sole Responsibility: Runners in Ottawa, Canada donate used athletic shoes overseas.
- Boulder Running: Sending new and nearly-new athletic shoes to Third World countries since 1986.
- Soles4Souls: Has given away 3.1 million pairs of shoes to tsunami and Hurricane Katrina victims.
- SolesUnited: Your worn-out crocs can be recycled into new pairs and donated to places like Malawi, El Salvador and the Dominican Republic.
