UK eco-nightclub to have tiny danceprint
The morning after a long night of clubbing typically brings enough soul-crushing shame without feeling green guilt over power wastage and vomiting up all that non-organic booze. However, eco-partiers in the UK will soon be able to dance the night away content in the knowledge that whatever damage they're doing to their bodies and brains, at least their hedonistic ways aren't hastening the demise of the planet.
The first British "eco-nightclub" will open next month in London, giving clubgoers the chance to get their groove on with organic beverages served under strobes powered by renewable electricity. It'll cost £10 to get in, but that'll be waived if you can prove you came by foot, bicycle or public transit (not that anyone who can afford to drive in London should be worried about a measly cover charge.) Future plans include recycled water for the toilets, and a dance floor that generates electricity from the pounding feet of crazed boogiers.
The club will also request would-be entrants to sign a pledge agreeing to work against climate change before they're allowed past the velvet rope. That kind of seems like it might suck a lot of the fun out of the thing, but at least their heart's in the right place.
