Gore blamed for death of Holocaust survivor
I get the feeling political pundits work like this:
- Step 1) find a relatively unknown story;
- Step 2) get really angry;
- Step 3) find a scapegoat and rant about how they suck until you're blue in the face.
Beck is upset about Irena Sandler. During WWII, Sandler was active in the Polish underground resistance to the Nazis, and led 2,500 of Jewish children out of the Warsaw Ghetto and into safe hiding places. She was up for the Nobel Prize against Al Gore. He won, she didn't, she recently died, and clearly Al and his stupid slideshow movie are to blame.
Truthfully, Sandler may have been more deserving of the prize than Gore -- in fact, I bet there's lots of people who could arguably be considered -- but implying that the winner was somehow, by virtue of winning, responsible for the loser's death (6 months later)? Given this piece, and the recent jabs in the media about the former Vice President's personal carbon footprint, it makes you wonder what everyone's so worked up about. Are they're trying to discredit Gore as he rallies support for the Democratic front-runner? Or maybe they're worried that Barack might try and nominate Al for VP so they're taking shots at him in advance? Maybe they're just bored?
