Green celebrities can be found all over the globe, including in India where some of the biggest stars in the world work in the Bollywood movie machine and influence millions of people.

Film hero Akshay Kumar was recently named brand ambassador for the Green Globe Foundation, which was launched this year by the International Indian Film Academy's (IIFA) as a way to strengthen its commitment towards fighting the issue of climate change.

As a symbolic gesture to demonstrate their concern, this year the IIFA had a "green carpet" reception for actors at the annual IFA Weekend, held in Bangkok this year. The event is sort of a South Asian Academy Awards, and receives international coverage -- making a statement there is a big deal.

Mr. Kumar, shown here with his wife Twinkle Khanna (she totally looks like a Twinkle) is a major star in India, appearing in more than 80 films since 1991. He will certainly help Green Globe Foundation with their mission "to raise awareness and identify heroes for others to emulate."
