Extreme weather consistent with global warming, say gov't scientists
There have been a lot of extreme weather stories lately, and along with the stories, lots of loss and human suffering, like what is currently happening in the Midwest floods. According to the U.S. Climate Change Science Program, if you think the weather is getting more extreme, you're right. And the reason for the increase in extreme weather? Yes, even according to our very own government, global warming caused by human activity.
There is strong evidence that climate change is the cause of the increasing frequency of extreme rain, heat, drought and tropical storms, including the Midwest floods. As global temperatures have risen, sea surface temperatures have risen. Warmer oceans lead to more water vapor in the atmosphere, and hence, more rainstorms, in a cycle that is the opposite of the Dust Bowl of the 1930s.
