The results of the PETA poll for sexiest vegetarian of 2008 are in! You voted when we told you about it in May, right? Well, someone did, because we have the winners: singers Leona Lewis and Anthony Kiedis.

Leona Lewis is a no brainer. She's spectacularly beautiful, talented, and has been at the top of all kinds of charts with one single or another. It makes sense that she got a bunch of votes in this popularity contest.

I have to admit, Anthony Kiedis is a bit of a head scratcher. I mean, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are cool and everything, and yay, he's a full-fledged vegan, but really? He's the hottest one out of a list of 80 vegetarians?

Let's take a look at a few highlights from that list and see if we can made sense of this result:

• Andre 3000: way hotter, should have won
• Alec Baldwin: hmmm, so talented and appealing to a certain "lady (or gentleman, we don't judge) of a certain age"
• Morrissey: Obviously appeals to the same Celtic-craving "of a certain age" demographic as Baldwin. They must have split the vote.
• Eric Stolz: Oh! Remember him? Red hair and the 80s.
• Geezer Butler: Dio! Sabbath! Metal!
• Prince: Perhaps the purple is a little past his prime?
• Milo Ventimiglia: so cute, can someone please tell me how did he not win? Where were the Heroes fans?
• Michael Bolton: he must still have an audience, they can't all have passed away or gone to nursing homes without internet access
• Salim Stoudamire: He's in the NBA for Pete's Sake! Even if he does play for a (cough) non-playoff team.

So, okay, I kind of get it now. Anthony didn't have a ton of competition. I mean, the ladies on the list were almost all smoking hot (Natalie Portman, Hayden Panettiere, Petra Nemcova to name a few) and the men...let's just say Kedis is holding up better than Rikki Rockett.

Congratulations to both Leona and Anthony! May you reign in health, and inspire more hot celebrities to go vegetarian in time for next year's contest.
