Jessica Simpson's meat t-shirt scandal, part duex
Earlier this week we brought you breaking news about Jessica Simpson's odd and unfortunate t-shirt, which proclaimed that "Real Girls Eat Meat." The former pop star is apparently under the impression that fans of her new pseudo-hillbilly sound also detest vegetables -- but unfortunately, in the process of courting these carrot-hating country lovers, she got slammed by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The group was so peeved by the carnivorous casual wear that they released a list of the Top Five Reasons Only Stupid Girls Brag About Eating Meat. Ouch. But not all celebs are reviled by the animal-rights organization. In fact, many high-profile Hollywood types are so tight with PETA that they've stripped off in support of their cause. Can you guess which celebrities got naked to save the animals?

I agree, it's crazy how people feel so hateful towards PETA, an organization that is trying to help all the millions of animals being tortured, not to mention the planet. I personally don't believe there's anything wrong with eating meat per se, but I do think the meat industry is completely horrific. If only people would stop being so ignorant and dismissive and consider that other living creatures should be treated humanely. Even if they're not humans (or dogs/ cats/ horses if they're lucky).

Courtney & Jessica,
don't tell PETA headoffice that you approve of eating meat- because if the organisation was merely against abuse of animals in the production of food then PETA would provide (or at least recommend) ethically sound alternatives, such as free range and organic chickens. However they don't and they roundly criticise all meat-eaters and enablers -such as yourselves and ms. simpson.

To those asking why people hate PETA.
1. They're hypocrites. They want "ethical" treatment for all animals. Meanwhile in PETA run animal rescues thousands of perfectly adoptable animals are being euthanized. Newkirk has said that she hopes hoof and mouth disease comes to America so people stop eating meat. So animal suffering is OK, as long as it stops people from eating meat. My favourite activity? Going to a PETA rally and counting all the protesters that are wearing leather shoes.
2. Their ads are tasteless. Comparing animals to Holocaust victims is disgusting. Using naked women to advocate eating vegetarian is ridiculous. Let's replace devaluing animal life with devaluing humans, classy.
3. They outright lie. On three occasions I have written about false information on their sites, which they then sneakily remove without trying to correct the errors or admit that they were wrong.
4. They support terrorist organizations. Go Google Rodney Coronado, listed as America's most dangerous terrorist and follow his money trail.
5. They actually hate pets. In Newkirk's ideal world their would be no pets.
In her words.
“Pet ownership is an absolutely abysmal situation brought about by human manipulation.”
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

god, what's wrong with people. all PETA wants is to ensure that animals are treated ethically. WHAT IS SO WRONG WITH THAT?! i guarantee if you took FIVE MINUTES of your time to do just a tiny bit of research on how animals are treated before they are killed you would be HORRIFIED. i love meat, cheese, dairy and if the circumstances in the meat industry were different i would feel differently about eating meat. but i just cannot take part in something that mercilessly tortures innocent animals. i just cant. it's completely inhumane and people who bash corporations, like PETA, most often times have absolutely no idea what they are talking about or why they detest organizations aimed at protecting the TORTURE OF INNOCENT ANIMALS. please take 5 minutes to see what they are really all about before you make such ignorant comments.
