If you are looking to eat a better diet for yourself and the environment, you've probably already switched over to organics. But eating organics are only a piece of the solution. There are a few other ways to modify what you eat to put the best foods in your body and help the environment too.
- Eat low on the food chain. Choosing grain fed beef is undoubtably better than consuming cows that are fed bits of other cows. However, unless it's organic, you could be consuming years of pesiticide use which gets stored in the the animal fat.
- Eat unprocessed, whole foods. These foods require less energy to process are are easily assimilated into the body. Plus they pack a punch of vitamins not found in highly processed foods.
- Eat a variety of food. Diversity in crops nourishes the soil as well as your body.
- Finally, reduce packaging. As you know, not only does packaging fill up the landfills but the energy and chemicals used to make that packaging can be absorbed into your food as well as your water supply
