Rebuilding green after natural disasters
It's happening more often lately; when a natural disaster ravages a city or country, those decimated areas are rebuilt with environmentalism and conservation in mind. We've seen it happen most famously with Greensburg, Kansas as documented all over the new Planet Green channel. It's happening in New Orleans after Katrina and now it's happening in China after the catastrophic Sichuan earthquake.A few of the most notable accomplishments in regards to this green rebuilding involves the use of sustainable bamboo for temporary housing for the displaced residents. Habitat for Humanity is hoping to utilize these greener building options used in the temporary homes for the permanent homes that are being built currently. Other options include renewable energy and less-harmful building practices being used in the construction of what has essentially become a clean slate for the advancement of greener building opportunities.
