Alec Baldwin wants to do a global warming TV drama
We know that Alec Baldwin has an impulsive streak and sometimes rattles off a comment or two that he probably wishes that he could take back. Still, every so often he comes up with a truly brilliant idea -- like a sexy TV drama combining global warming and space travel. Of course, Fox execs shot it down immediately. Baldwin:"I once pitched a show to (Fox president of entertainment) Kevin Reilly. I told him I wanted to bring back space travel on TV, like "Star Trek," but that I wanted to have sex in the space capsule and get really adult. In the show, the space capsule will have left Earth, and because of global warming, the Earth is dying. I'm the commander of this ship and I say, "We can never go back!" So Reilly is sitting there listening very patiently and finally says, "Well, we're never going to do that."I think the nation is ready for a global warming spaceship drama. Heck, Disney's already doing a global warming comedy -- and it's a kid's movie.

Another neogreen. Do as I say, not as I do. Real greens downsize and conserve. Real greens don't buy carbon credits, nor sell carbon credits, they reduce for the sake of reduction. Real greens don't fly private jets.

Yes, yes, and yes! But if we do not accept that there are some people who have influence and power to get the right thing done, we will not get it done. Unfortunately, we are in a hurry and we need the people who can convince the masses better than you and me.
To give you an example: I just recently saw the 11th hour, a movie made by Leonardo DiCaprio. He lives a good live I am sure. Much better than the vast majority of us will ever be able to. Much higher impact than most people who do not even care about the environment. Yet it is a great film. Extremely convincing and I am glad to be able to show it to my students. It sells for less than $5 (very little profit it seems) and it will convince more people than is possible with other real-green means that have less impact. We need more of that PLUS thousands more role-models of regular people who pollute less in their daily lives. And we need a value revolution that gets us away from admiring those few who live with so much impact and do not care.

There's already an excellent TV miniseries on global warming, called "The Fire Next Time".
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105998/
I've been hoping it would be shown again -- it was an effective statement back in 1993 when it was made, and would be more so now. The great acting, plot, and cinematography are a bonus.
No outer space, though. This one's intended to be a realistic projection of what might happen in the near future...getting nearer all the time.
Anyone got suggestions for how / who to lobby to get this shown again, or released on DVD?

How about a movie on the Al Gore Global Warming hoax. 31,000 scientists (9,000 of them PhD's) disagree with the baffoon who flies around in a fuel gorging jet and whom lives in a mansion that consumes 10 times the energy of his neighbors. When you deduce that the recent 100 years of weather temperature deviations provide an accurate finding over a 4 billion year earth history, you have to be an idiot.

Don't forget that algore *owns* a company positioned to make a fortune on the cap and trade carbon credit scam buying and selling credits. That's the driving motivation behind this whole 'global warming' climate scare.
BTW, the average temperature of the earth hasn't risen in nearly 10 years.....
