Tip of the Day: Ditch the clay cat litter and find something greener

Common clay cat litter may seem environmentally friendly because it's naturally occurring in the Earth but the truth is that due to the strip mining process (big machines peel off the outer layers of the earth to get down to thin clay layers below) cat litter is responsible for the destruction of thousands and thousands of acres of land every year. And standard natural clay cat litter is not the byproduct of any other process, as many people believe. Here are some greener options:
- Swheat Scoop (made from non-food grade wheat)
- The World's Best Cat Litter (made from corn)
- Purina's Yesterday's News (made from recycled newspaper)
- Feline Pine (recycled from the by-products of lumber production)
