War on the pests...the earth-friendly way

This morning I woke up to find ants coming in two sides of my house, flying ant-like things at another entrance, and fruit-flies on my jade plant. Arg! As much as I adore nature and don't like harming things I draw the line when they infest my house. Looking for a gentle way to treat the problem without exposing myself or the environment to a fog of detrimental chemicals I went looking online where I find many an answer. Thank goodness for Care2's website which has more than 4,000 healthy and green living ideas -- and a recipe for treating my problem. Just mix 1-2 tablespoons of liquid soap (one of the greenest is Dr. Bronner's Pure-Castile Soaps) with a quart of water then fill a spray bottle and go to town!
