Here are my top five cheap, meaningful, and environmentally friendly gifts for Father's Day.
- Using recycled or scrap material, make Dad a card or even a collage. Consider recycled paper, scrap paper or fabric, cut-outs from old magazines, and pens and markers you have lying around the house.
- Treat Dad to coffee in a fair trade cafe, and catch up on what's new. He'll appreciate hearing about your college experiences, and having some quality time with just the two of you.
- Buy something used. In fact, with the money you save, you might be able to buy a few things used. Take a trip to some used bookstores and garage sales.
- Support your university by purchasing from the campus bookstore. A travel mug that says "(your school) Dad!" can be a fun way to get him to fill up at coffee shops to cut down on waste and feel proud at the same time.
- Does Dad have a green thumb, or a dreary looking office space? Consider giving him a plant that he can look at every day and think of you. If you already have a plant, look into dividing it and giving him part of it.
