Grow your own food in a box
But her living space is not conducive to a complete food garden like mine, nor is her mobility. She is a healthy eater, loves fresh produce and attends the local farmer's market regularly. But she's often mused that the best food for our bodies and our planet is home grown. She has some tomatoes in pots on her porch and herbs in a small area behind her mobile home. But soon, she'll have a lot more than that.
The family decided to pool funds recently and purchase an Earth Box as a gift for Mom.
According to the company, it was developed by commercial farmers and more than doubles the yield of a conventional garden-with less fertilizer, less water and virtually no effort. The variety of food is huge, too. It's gotten rave reviews. My sister-in-law, Mary, has a friend who bought one that became a wild success with more food than she could eat. And apparently my mother-in-law's is doing well, although it's too soon to harvest anything.
So it appears one no longer has to long for a large yard in order to have a food garden. And those with a large yard may opt for something easier anyway. We'd love to hear about your experiences with Earth Box. Hopefully, it's not too good to be true.
