Ode to Craigslist
Over the weekend, I moved, and had to leave a lot of stuff behind (see: lamps, hangers, storage bins, MY BED...). After a quick mourning period (after which I reminded myself that IT'S JUST STUFF), I had to go about quickly re-obtaining some of the furniture. In a few hours, I'd gotten in touch with a woman on Craigslist, and for a meager hundred bucks, was the proud owner of a bed and a tortiere floor lamp.
In the past, the things I have obtained from Craiglist have included (but are not limited to): furniture, an apartment, a job, and a significant other.
So, readers, in light of my recent C-list purchases, I implore you: what's the best thing you've ever received through the site? Worst thing?

I'd say if you can't get it on Craigslist you don't really need it. I've gotten some pretty sweet little thangs on there myself.

I sold a house on Craigslist. It took two weeks. No realtor commission -- saved me what, $20,000 or more. I also sold a motorcycle on carigslist. It took less than 3 hours from the time I posted it. I basically love craigslist.

You can find a lot of reliable furniture and appliances on Craiglist, but it's always best to ask for a photo and check out items in person before you agree to buy it. Our company office have bought several of our furniture items from Craigslist and we've always been happy with whatever we find! You can also scope out FreeCycle and thrift stores for quality used items. Save your cash and reduce your environmental footprint by purchasing secondhand! I just found a service listed on craigslist, entitled "The Green Craigslist" -- It's a pretty new local classifieds network called http://www.ecoflip.org. I checked it out and I think this could become a friendly alternative to our beloved craigslist.
Worst thing: I got a headache once when I found out that my listings were being "ghosted." I do business in two different cities and I was listing my ads in both cities (I admit, against CL rules). I proceeded to do this for 2 months when I started to realize that although I was allowed to post, and would successfully recieve the confirmation emails for my ads, they would not show on CL's live site. RATS! A good lesson:)
