Timberland recycled totes

Timberland came out with this tote coinciding with Earth month, which was extremely fitting, since the bag is eco-friendly from start to finish.

Last October, Timberland released a line of eco-friendly boots (made with mostly organic and recyclable materials). If you've ever shopped for a good pair of boots made from sustainable materials, you probably know how hard they are to find. So Timberland has filled that niche with their Earth Keepers line -- contemporary and waterproof -- what's not to like?
Now, you're probably wondering why I'm going on about boots if this story is about totes. I promise I'm getting to my point -- bear with me. To promote the Earth Keepers collection, the company started an eco-conscious advertising campaigning, erecting billboards in Boston and Providence.

Once the campaign ended, the billboards were taken down and recycled into the lovely tote you see before you now. The bags are waterproof, durable and surprisingly spacious. I was lucky enough to be able to try one out -- and they're fantastic. Honestly, I fit all of my grocery shopping into the two totes. In general, I buy heavy items (my husband drinks milk by the gallon). Lugging out milk and water (in recyclable glass bottles, obviously), I didn't feel that the straps were about to snap off or the bottom of the totes were going to give out, as I had felt with other bags I bought for the purpose of grocery shopping.

As an added bonus, the bags are really unique. The first day I used one, a friend complimented me and asked where I had picked it up!

The totes are available in all Timberland stores and can be purchased for $25.
