How to make your own rain barrel, from DIY Life

Rain barrels are just what they sound like, barrels to collect rain water. Collected rain water is especially useful to water your garden, especially in time of water shortages.

Bill Volk on DIY Life tells us how to make our own rain barrel. Volk lives north of Atlanta, an area currently under outdoor watering restrictions. While there are commercial rain barrels available now, but they are usually not cheap, and isn't it more fun to make your own? (If you have the skills that is!).

So, take a look at Bob's article and see how what it takes to make your own rain barrel. His requirements for the barrel were simple enough: food grade, plastic, have a removable top, be reasonably attractive and not cost a "bazillion dollars."

Check out Volk's article for all of the directions!
