Home Depot to stop selling pesticides in Canadian stores
Lots of well-deserved Canada blog love this week!First, Canada practically bans polycarbonate baby bottles. Then Ontario outlaws bans on clotheslines and their premier makes a great speech about how citizens should feel comfortable putting up a clothesline and letting, "mother nature, let the wind and the sun, dry your clothing". The city of Toronto gives out free clotheslines and cold-water laundry detergent.
Next up, Home Depot announces that it will voluntarily stop selling traditional pesticides and herbicides in its stores across Canada by the end of the year and will increase its selection of environmentally friendly alternatives. This action comes ahead of legislated deadlines. Home Depot stores in the province of Quebec already do not sell pesticides. Product categories affected by this voluntary phase-out include herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, slug baits, moss control products and lawn fertilizers with weed control.

Technically it's voluntary on Home Depots' part, but they're anticipating legislaton in Ontario next year which will ban "cosmetic" pesticide use. Along with Quebec, that means the two largest provinces in Canada will have anti-pesticide regulation so HD can clearly see which way the wind is blowing.
