Sandra Bullock goes green with candles and a restaurant
Sandra Bullock pulled an Earth Day double whammy on us! First she gave a tour to Oprah's show and showed us how her Austin restaurant, Bess, is an environmentally friendly eatery. Then she announced that she's starting her own line of environmentally friendly candles.Sandra's restaurant is green from the ground up. Coffee cups and takeaway boxes are made from sugarcane. Cutlery is made from potatoes. The furniture in the place is all recycled, including some tables made from the floorboards of a house that she renovated.
In terms of the cost of being green, Sandra says it's negligible, "The price difference... is minimal, it's just a few cents, and I think we're absolutely worth it; those few extra pennies to make sure we have a beautiful earth."
And she admits that living a green lifestyle has been imparted into her since she was born, "We were raised that way. My mother was macrobiotic, health food, no chemicals, made all her own bed... I hated it then but I love it now because she recycled everything."
As for the candles, the entire line will be made out of soy wax. She is doing this after finding out about the chemicals that are in wicks and wax of regular candles. Since soy wax is a renewable resource, Sandra decided to stick with that.
