Earth Day the new Christmas?
"Is Earth Day the new Christmas?" asks an article in Ad Age this week. According to the article, there is loads of advertising going on about the day, with everyone trying to show some green credentials, from Macy's and Banana Republic to Toys R'Us and Barbie. La Marguerite puts forth an interesting proposition -- Let's make Earth Day a No Shopping Day.
This sounds like a great idea to me. Hey, it's the middle of April, the weather is quite nice in most parts of the country (finally) and there is tons of neat stuff to do. You could even throw in an Earth Hour at the end of the day to top it off. What better day to make an effort to cut down on your consumption, to do something for your community and to have some fun at the same time. No shopping required!

I'd love for you to share a link to this post on my blog (http://www.goodiesformom.com) under my post "Share Your Thoughts for a Greener World". We are having an Earth Day Celebration through 4/22 trying to help bring green to everyday people. This would be a great addition.
