5 ways to reuse draperies

Once I hang draperies, I like to forget about them. However, I know that if I ever decide to remodel or move (God forbid), I will very likely be looking for a new home for my heavy velvet curtains.
  1. Wardrobe. Frankly my dear, Ms. O'Hara and the singing nun had the right idea when they turned old curtains into new frocks.
  2. Decorate. You may not want them hanging over your windows the thick drapery material can make some nice throw pillows.
  3. Pets. Cut each curtain into a large circle, sew together and stuff for a custom pet bed.
  4. Gifts. One set of curtains can make quite a few jewelry bags, perfect for gift giving.
  5. Protection. If the curtains are especially hideous, you will enjoy using them as drop cloths for your next painting project.
