Tesla is going across the pond
Taking advantage of a weak dollar, tons of tax incentives, and a strong market for zero-emissions vehicles, Tesla Motors will be taking its show on the road next year. Over the course of 2009, 250 of Tesla's all-electric Roadsters will be set aside for the European market. The luxury green machine will be priced at just under €100,000 -- that's about $156,000 -- and it will be aimed at larger markets like France, the Netherlands, and Germany where it can burn some rubber on the autobahn. The move will inevitably translate to even longer waiting lists for the much in-demand electric sports car. Right now, there are 1,000 reservations on the waiting list here in the States. By early next year, the Tesla factory's output is expected to ramp up to somewhere around 100 cars per month -- not exactly the mass-production business model that dominates the auto-industry. In the meantime, there are a flood of alternative fuel vehicles coming onto the market from the more traditional auto giants.
If you're in the UK: tough luck. Tesla doesn't have any right hand-drive designs worked up just yet -- but sit tight. The California-based automaker is planning to put a factory in Europe. Once that's complete, perhaps they'll get caught up enough to wrestle with issues other than getting their still fragile operation off the ground.

Tesla's been one delay after another. I'm starting to lose faith in them ever putting a vehicle into production...
