Powercube 600: the portable green generator in a box
Thinking about greening your home's electric supply? For about the same price as installing solar panels on your roof, you can purchase your very own portable renewable energy generator. Reluminati LLC is offering a giant foldable solar generator in-a-box called the Powercube 600 that you can take with you when you move. This 600-watt solar generator is a completely self-contained, plug and play power station that makes no noise. The only drawback is that it weighs a ton -- literally -- it's much bigger than it looks in the picture.
The Powercube has six 200 amp-hour batteries and provides 3500 Watts of continuous inverter output, if that means anything to you. Personally, I think one of the coolest features is its ability to operate on or off the grid. If you've got a flatbed truck and a forklift, you can take this baby to a remote getaway. Then, when you hook it up, it doesn't spoil the mood with a noisy combustion engine and stinky emissions.
Sure, $25,000 is a pretty big price tag for a generator, but it seems competitive when you compare it with installing a permanent solar setup at your house. Reluminati claims that the Powercube is water tight, and they offer a pretty good warranty package -- which is reassuring. I'm a little skeptical because it looks like a giant desktop printer, and those things never seems to work right.

Just how big is that thing? Sattler Eco is always talking about solar power and today they talked about a new company, Nanosolar, that is supposed to be making super-efficient solar panels. Seems like there is so much going on in the world of solar energy!
I really like the portability of this but I'm not quite He-Man enough to muscle that into...anything really! It looks huge!

It's big. Looking at the pics, it could easily be 6' wide. You'd need a forklift or something similar to move this thing around, but it can be done.
