This is not an April Fools' Day joke, I repeat, this is not a joke! PETA has sent an open letter to Britney Spears asking her to come in to their offices and work as a receptionist for a day, or even as little as an hour. It's apparent that they've heard about Brit's short attention span.

PETA has never been kind to Britney in the past, mostly because Britney's not one of their own. She wears fur and was rumored to have bought a puppy from a pet store supplied by a puppy mill. So why is PETA offering up this opportunity for Britney?





Obviously, they want the publicity. They're trying to score a little heat from all the buzz that Brit's How I Met Your Mother performance generated. In case you missed it, she played a receptionist.

PETA president Ingrid Newkirk wants Britney to see, "from the inside, why we are so concerned about issues like fur and homeless dogs and cats. ... We might have criticized you in the past for contributing to the dog overpopulation crisis and wearing real fur, but perhaps now that your own crisis has abated, a new day calls for a new relationship, a new outlook, and a new understanding."

I think it's a little early to be saying that Britney's crisis has abated. Her father only has her under lock and key until July, so we'll see what happens after that.

Anyways, PETA has offered Britney $1,000 to be donated to a charity of her choice if she decides to do it. Do you think she'll say yes? I doubt it. PETA's pretty good at burning bridges and they've been extremely insulting to Britney in the past.
