Nissan Denki Cube Concept is one adorable electric vehicle
The latest electric car to garner blog buzz is the Nissan Denki Cube Concept, which is making its debut at the 2008 New York Auto Show this week.
Denki is apparently Japanese for "electric", so it must be a happy coincidence that the Cube looks like somebody mated a Dinky Toy truck with an iPod and blew it up to life size. If you put a giant Fisher Price person in the driver's seat it'd be ready for the big plastic garage.
However, geek is in these days and by that standard, this bad boy is a Maserati.
The Denki is designed after the equally cute internal combustjon Cube, which is apparently a popular vehicle in Japan. However, the Denki is designed to run entirely from lithium ion batteries, and the accomodate them, the wheelbase is slightly larger than the gasoline Cube. There's little detail offered on performance specs, if or when it could actually go into production, and and seems intended more as a way of pumping up Nissan's green cred than something that will be street-worthy anytime soon.
