Be the real Mr. Green Jeans with Del Forte Denim
Yesterday we told you about Levi's foray into eco-fashion, and good for them. However, if you prefer that your environmentally friendly jeans be a little less mass market, consider Del Forte Denim.
The LA-based company was founded by designer Tierra Del Forte in 2005, and they're all about being green.
How? For starters, Del Forte Denim is partners with, and contributes a portion of its proceeds to, the Sustainable Cotton Project, which has been building markets for certified organically grown and sustainable cotton since 1994. They also use eco-friendly and ethical practices in their business, right down to finding a carbon-neutral hosting company for their website.
Del Forte also has a program called Rejeaneration, where buyers can send their used jeans back to the company, who will recycle and resell them. Sending in your old pants will get you a 10% discount on your next purchase. Just try that at Wal-Mart.
Del Forte Denim styles are available in stores around the US - for details, check out their website here.
(Note: I didn't see any men's styles on the website, so I'm guessing there aren't any - in that case the Mr. Green Jeans reference above is all kinds of incorrect, but I wanted to pay tribute to a long-dead childhood icon anyway.)
