Vegan strip club: FAIL
As we've learned, time and again, vegetarians are hot -- and, more importantly, enjoy taking their clothes off for a good cause. So I suppose it's no surprise that some wise guy in Portland, Oregon figured the local granolas might like to see a little T & A in honor of their meat-free lifestyle. But it turns out he was wrong. Up until recently, you could visit the Casa Diablo Gentlemen's Club and enjoy soy protein tacos and "Vegan Vixens" shaking their derrieres, scantily-clad in pleather. Now, however, the club is up for sale, having failed to capture the exceptionally-horny (yet concerned-with-animal-rights) niche industry that apparently will not be the next big thing in Portland.
I think they just focused on the wrong angle. A vegan strip club is a cute idea, if you're into that sort of thing, but why sell it on animal rights? Loving animals and sexy ladies in the same context feels a little gross somehow. They should have marketed their club on the environmental benefits of a meatless diet. Because while animals can be cute, environmentalism is sexy -- just look at Hayden Panettierre, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Natalie Portman, and all the other treehugging celebrities. Who wouldn't want to fantasize about someone who's saving the planet?
And with that in mind, here's another look at a feature we ran awhile back: seven celebs who should get naked (for the planet).

Part of the problem was in lack of advertising, and in not doing enough to separate it from the dozens of other strip clubs we have in the Portland area.
