Food prices through the roof, including organics

This keeps coming back up in the news, and from my little view of the world, it's really true. Grocery prices are going through the roof. I buy the same basic list each week, nothing fancy, and, while I haven't done a solid analysis, the total cost each week seems to be creeping up, up and up. I do buy some foods organic, although certainly not 100% of the list, but other than that, nothing out of the ordinary.

Turns out I'm not making this up, but prices really are going up. According to the Labor Department, milk is up 17 percent, as are dried beans, peas and lentils. Cheese, rice and pasta and bread are all up 12 to 15 percent. Eggs are up a whopping 25% since February of last year and 62 percent in the last two years. There are lots of reasons for these increases, from increased cost of animal feed to increased transportation costs, as well as steep increases for the price of wheat.

How much do you spend, per person, on groceries, per week?
