Drinking green on campus
Busy college students may want to live green, but sometimes time and academic pressures don't seem to encourage it. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to ensure you stick with it while saving money, supporting your school and getting organized. Head to the college bookstore and purchase a sleek travel mug. Most campus coffee shops will fill them, and you can use your meal card to speed up payment. You'll be supporting your school, and making more time to snag that (hopefully fair trade) caffeine fix.
Next, pick out a college water bottle with a lid and a clip for ease of transportation. If you can't tolerate tap water, skip individual bottles in favor of large jugs to recycle/reuse, saving money and cutting down on consumer waste. Grab a second bottle to take to parties. This will cut down on your use of disposable cups, prevent you from leaving your empties lying around someone's apartment (who knows if they recycle?), and keep you safer. If you can keep your drink in your lap, upside down, or clipped to your person, it's less likely to be compromised.
Tip: if you don't drink alcohol, buy an opaque bottle to fill with water, juice or soda. People will think you're drinking, and stop offering you beverages.
More drinking!
