EDUN's ethical fashion lineup
As soon as I learned what a scuppie is, the more I've realized just how much scuppie-tastic fashion is already on the market. It's getting easier all the time to be socially and eco-conscious in all purchases -- especially when it comes to fashion. And the good news is that you're no longer limited to hemp sandals and t-shirts with peace signs on them. EDUN clothing is the brainchild of Bono (yes, that Bono) and Ali Hewson, who set out "to create beautiful clothing while fostering sustainable employment in developing areas of the world, particularly Africa." Like most 'ethical clothing' store you run across, EDUN has a lot of organic cotton graphic tees, but that not really the focal point of their collection. They've actually got a pretty wide selection of men's and women's clothing from pants to jackets. Heck, you can even get an ethical lumberjack flannel.
It's nice to find some sustainable fashions that actually look cool. Reading through their FAQ, it looks like EDUN actually does support a lot of sustainable agriculture, though not all of their stuff is organic or fairtrade. My only gripe is the high price point of their line. Guess I'm too cheap to be a real scuppie.
