Austalians not keen on eating kangaroos

The kangaroo controversy in Australia goes on over a government plan to deal with a kangaroo overpopulation problem near a military base by holding a cull. Animal rights activists want the kangaroos to be relocated.

And here's a new twist. An Australian government report on Friday found that kangaroo meat has an image problem. The report says that the kangaroo industry needs to do more to explain how killing wild kangaroos was humane, sustainable and good for environment. Apparently, none of the respondents even knew that kangaroo meat came from wild kangaroos. I assume they thought the meat came from farmed 'roos?

Fifty-eight percent of Australians have tried prime kangaroo cuts at least once and 14.5 percent say they eat it four times a year or more. Other cuts go for pet food.

Hey, if you're going to eat kangaroo, free range might be the way to go.
