My family goes through about two gallons of milk a week. Although I dutifully place each container into the recycling bin, that still a lot of waste! Here are five other uses for those jugs.
- Painting. Cut the front, top quarter off, keeping the bottom and handle in tact. Fill with paint for a portable, easy to hold bucket.
- Lantern. Again, cut of the top of the gallon jug. Next, fill the container with sand and votive candle. If you have several, you can line a walkway or driveway to welcome guests for an evening party.
- Plant markers. Anna at DIY Life came up with this great idea. Cut jug into strips and write plant varieties in permanent marker.
- Save. Here in hurricane country, we're always told to have gallons of water on hand as a storm approaches. Keeping a couple of empty jugs around can save me from a last minute run to the store.
- New home. Now, if you have A LOT of jugs, you just might want to make a jug igloo by gluing them all together with a hot glue gun in the desired shape.
