Entourage star takes home Blue Sky Award
Adrian Grenier will be taking center stage at this year's Vail Film Festival where he and his beard will be honored with the 2008 Blue Sky Award for Environmental Activism. What's the criteria for the award you might ask? Well, if you're hoping to win next year, you must first become a super rich A-list celebrity. I guess Adrian deserves it though, since he has been working hard to both lower his own impact on upper atmosphere and promote ways for the rest of us make a difference. Earlier this year he teamed up with the Discovery Channel to do a show called The Green Life, focusing on simple ways to make your footprint smaller like shopping locally. The star's idea is that if everyone was show how cool living green is, it could become common sense, saying "if everyone just became a little more aware of his or her own personal impact on the earth, real change would ultimately result."
Adrian also outfitted his house in Brooklyn with all kind of green features. You might say he pulled a 'Jack Johnson' on it, using blue jean material to insulate and putting up massive photovoltaics. Grenier might not be one of Hollywood's greenest stars -- sure, he's no DiCaprio -- but he definitely tries to be green.
