Tip of the Day: Natural alternatives to mothballs

There's nothing worse than pulling out your winter clothes in the fall only to find that your favorite sweater has served as a 7-11 Snack Stop for the local moth population. Mothballs, which are basically just little wads of chemicals and pesticides, have traditionally been the remedy for moth closet attacks but people are moving away from them for obvious health and planet-friendly reasons. So this season as you do your spring cleaning and pack away your winter clothes forget the mothballs and instead try natural alternatives.
Cedar is an old standby that works great, but many herbs (cloves, fresh rosemary, eucalyptus, lavender, cinnamon sticks and bay leaves) also work great at repelling moths and other bugs -- just put them in little cheescloth baggies and tie them to the hangers in your closet.
