Tabletop dishwashers
I understand wanting to have a dishwasher. In addition to convenience, dishwashers can be better for the environment than hand washing, in terms of energy and water use. And that's why I use mine. Really. But I can't figure out a compact tabletop dishwasher. Like this one. It only holds four place settings. What is the point? And I don't know this for sure, but I suspect hand washing four place settings has to be better (and easier) than running this device. But I could be wrong on that.
Anyone have any experience with these?

If I remember correctly (I have no link to verify the following statement), the "study" on efficiency of dishwashers and handwashing was "supported" by companies like GE, Kenmore, etc... exactly the people who would BENEFIT from dishwashers being more easy on the environment than someone handwashing their pots and pans.
I personally am just about the best person in the world at washing dishes. I can do three peoples' dishes (and in Japan to boot -- where we use LOTS of plates!) using about a liter of water. I am talking water too -- not warm or not water. Just the stuff that comes straight out of the ground -- or community pipe if you have city water.
I didn't even factor in drying, which I do the old fashioned way -- letting them air-dry, and occasionaly giving some plates a wipe-down. Even the best dishwashers will use a ton of electricity to perform this task.
Point is, pretty much anything that you can do by hand is going to be the best eco-friendly alternative. Remember how people used to have to pump their own water???
