The Home Depot has a two-year-old involvement with the Forest Stewardship Council, through which they
sponsor the development of a global forestry registry intended to inform consumers about the wood they buy. Home Depot also sources wood cut down through a range of responsible harvesting practices. However, its reputation got blotted a bit in 2007, when the Forest Stewardship Council
came under criticism for the practices of some of the operations it certifies. Ah, consumer,
beware the greenwash...but it's good that the Home Despot is trying.
