Drowning in envelopes
I pay nearly all of my bills online but many of my statements continue to arrive via the postal service and they go directly to the shredder. Lately I have been pulling out the return envelopes as I am making an effort to reuse rather than recycle. So far I just have a big pile of windowed envelopes in my desk drawer.I recently used a few to assist in tax preparation as I was able to organize receipts for various expenditures but I still have over two dozen tucked away. I have a feeling that if I don't find a good use for them soon, I may be subject to some compulsive hoarder intervention.
That being said, I'm trying to come up with ways to use my stash. I don't write nearly as many letters as I used to so using them in a conventional sense is probably no good. I'd use them for scrap paper but I have enough of that already to see me through the next twenty years. Have you found a creative solution for using your extra envelopes?

Ours go into the recycling bin. Fortunately, we have curbside paper recycling here.

Yes, but it would still be better to actually USE the envelopes before you recycle them. Recycling is better than pure waste, but to create something only to recycle it is pretty ridiculous.

That's certainly true and is the reason why whenever I can, I opt to stop paper statements arriving in the mail at all. Still, there's always some kicking around and I prefer recycling them to cluttering up my (already cluttered) house. I do often save a few to hold coupons and lists in my purse or diaper bag and such like that.

That's on my list of things to do this summer but I currently do not even have a garden or any landscaping to speak of!

Most brilliant idea! I work at a University and all day long I try to find already used envelopes to reuse to send inter-department mail. You could DONATE your envelopes to your office or to anyone who works in an office that uses such a system.
