Many of us are searching for those unique yet wallet-friendly ways to say "I love you" this Valentine's Day. Something that will make your sweetie's heart melt, but not add clutter to the environment nor cost an arm and a leg. Well, look no further -- Green Daily has the answers for you (along with the
other green ideas that are in our Valentines Guide). Here are five ways to share the love without the cost:
- One way to surprise the one you love throughout the workday is to hide notes (on recycled junk mail or other leftover paper) in their handbag, lunch sack or daytimer, on their windshield, on the handle of their coffee thermos... you get the idea. Anywhere and everywhere you can think of. Little notes, saucy ideas for post-work fun, or just "I love you" over and over again.
- Before your honey rises for the day, write a sweet or sassy note on their bathroom mirror in red lipstick. It will wake them up in a fun way and start their day off feeling the love. If you really want to, you can do a different message each day of the week (probably use vinegar to clean the mirror in between messages) or before and after work too.

- Instead of making reservations for dinner or meeting at the local deli for lunch, bring the meal to them! Pack a picnic in the morning, make sure your date is available to meet you, and sneak off to a grassy park, museum stairs, or the back of your car if you can't think of anything else.
- If you both have the 9 to 5 grind everyday, wake up an extra hour early (I know it sounds painful, but it will be worth it) and go for an early morning stroll together before the rest of the world is up. If breakfast is a rarity for the two of you to share, enjoy coffee or tea and maybe a special breakfast treat of your choice made at home and then go about your day. The whole day both of you can smile remembering how you started the day.
- Lastly, create a scavenger hunt in your house or around your community with you as the treasure at the end. You can use leftover materials (junk mail again, old maps you don't need or other extras in your household) to leave your clues on. At each clue you could write something you love about them, a special memory or inside joke between you two ... you get the idea, just be creative! Make it a top-ten list if you're a late night TV fan. Just make sure the focus is on the one you love. When the hunt is over they'll find you waiting for them -- details here don't need to be spelled out.
Enjoy Valentine's Day and remember, it's the time and thought you put into something, not how much money you spend. XOXO
