Method to start packaging in 100% post-consumer recycled bottles
Method Home is going to start packaging all of their products, starting with their cleaning products, in 100% post-consumer recycled PET. According to Method, they will be the first company in the U.S. to do this.Only 23.5% of PET was recycled in 2006, with more than 4 billion tons of it ending up in landfills. The EPA estimates that for every pound of PET recycled, we save 12,000 BTUs of energy. While recycling is one step, it's also important that all of that content has somewhere to go.
Kudos to Method for taking this step; let's hope that loads of other manufacturers follow suit. Putting a little recycle sign on the bottle to remind consumers to throw it in the recycling bin when its empty isn't enough.
