Will Britain reach the new EU renewable energy target?

So much of this heating is due to the greenhouse effect and is, say the experts, a result of 'environmentally naughty' human activity, such as the huge impact that air travel has and even the heating and cooling of buildings. This is why there's now a mad scramble to find alternative energy sources.
Now, the UK may face a battle to reach new targets of renewable energy sources.
Will the UK reach this target?
Hard to say, really. I know that if heating and cooling of our buildings is an issue in the matter, then perhaps greater attention should be paid to properly insulating houses. Many of the UK's homes are old. Very old. The house I live in was built in 1880 and still doesn't have any double-glazing. Believe me, I feel it. Now, in mid-winter, the cold creeps in through badly fitted sash windows and old doors and, in reverse, we lose a lot of heat to the exterior. My house isn't unique either - more than half the houses in my suburb are exactly the same.
Why don't we do anything about it? Because it's horribly expensive and also, many people don't fully understand the impact that this has on our environment. Maybe, if the powers-that-be embarked on a more focused programme of education and offered incentives to homeowners to install adequate insulation, it would go some way to reducing our energy needs.
