The Indigo Girls are activists in the old-school sense. In 2003, they created
Honor the Earth to create awareness and support for Native environmental issues and raise financial and political resources for the survival of sustainable Native communities. During a speaking tour, they mobilized people for the cause, and they haven't stopped since. They've also spoken out against nuclear waste being dumped in low-income communities and the Dep't of Defense not having to abide by the rules of the Clean Air Act and Superfund law. You know...just to name a
few.
