Greenest Musicians: Honorable Mentions
Don't worry - we didn't. We just like to make you sweat.
Unless you've been living in a hole, you've heard of Willie's biodiesel-fueled tour bus, and the resulting patented biodiesel, "BioWillie." The EPA even honored him in its Environmental Awards Ceremony for opening the first biodiesel fueling station in California. He's said publicly that he hopes biodiesel can expand and be soon made from chicken and beef fat, safflower, and even hemp. Plus, the guy's bus (and Mercedes) smell of french fries. You can't get much cooler than that.
Jack Johnson is more than just a surfer dude-cum-musician...he's a a surfer dude-cum-musician who's way into saving the earth. In '04, he co-founded the Kokua Hawaii Foundation, which supports environmental education for students in Hawaii. And more recently, he's been making waves by recording music in "The Premises," a new solar-powered recording studio complete with bamboo flooring. Rock on, dude.
And now, here's your chance to tell us who we left out. Who do you think deserves a mention as a Greenest Musician, and why? Leave a comment and let us know.
