Prior to using a pejorative such as "retard," you should have taken the time to do a bit of research.

Fact: slowing down reduces gas consumption.

Why? As your speed increases, the aerodynamic drag increases in exponential fashion, so the engine works harder to maintain your speed and move the car through the atmosphere.

The harder the engine works, the more fuel it uses.
This is one reason some hybrids get lower fuel effiency on the highway than in the city.

A driver that travels 62 mph instead of 75 mph decreases their fuel consumption by 15%, thus increasing their mpg.

A FEW ways that fuel consumption can be reduced further, is by using cruise control, using the A/C sparingly, keeping windows closed and tires properly inflated, as well as avoiding long periods of idling.

These FACTS are not trumped and/or negated by antecdotial claims made by someone who attempts to disprove a statement with name calling and a sole personal experience.

Have you noticed the reduced speeds of the semi's on our highways? What is the reason? It's because the majority of these drivers are paid on a per mile basis, which has not kept pace with increased fuel costs. Therefore, when drivers maximize their fuel efficency, they can negate the higher fuel costs.

During my daily commute to (liberal) Ann Arbor, Michigan, I am passed by at least one speeding Prius.

Not only is speeding against the law, it reduces the MPG.

Well, at least their intentions are good, and that's what really counts -- right?

Just a thought, 4x4s are needed in sweeden because it snowes alot, and whats going to happen when someone dies after a wreck due to tire failure from low pressure, the person who dies may be driving a Mini.....So think people THINK....
