That may help a little but its not going to do very much more then a storm window does on the outside. stops some drafts but still lets in the cold/heat. The window will still conduct energy and that is how you lose your heat and let in the cold air, same with cooling and heat outside. You need an insulated glass pack with argon or krypton gas(both harmless and inert) that are heavier then air. They act like oil and water and do not let the different enviroments inside and out. An insert is just barely better then putting up the plastic inside your windows and heating it with a hair dryer but an insert costs much much more. A good replacement window will cost you $600-1000 per opening but you will live in a much more comfortable climate inside your home and your bills will drastically go down. www.Gorell.com has energy saving tips.
